Coyotes Trade Amonte to Philadelphia for Guillaume Lefebvre , 3rd Round Draft Choice In 2003 & 2nd Round Draft Choice In 2004

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes Executive Vice President and General Manager Michael Barnett announced today that the Coyotes have traded right wing Tony Amonte to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for 21-year-old left wing Guillaume Lefebvre, the Atlanta Thrashers' 3rd round draft choice in 2003 (owned by the Philadelphia Flyers) and the Philadelphia Flyers' 2nd round draft choice in 2004.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Lefebvre has played 14 games with the Philadelphia Flyers this season, collecting 4 penalty minutes (PIM). In addition, Guillaume has played 47 games with the Philadelphia Phantoms (AHL), recording 7-6-13 and 113 PIM.

During the 2001-02 season, the native of Amos, Quebec played 3 games with the Flyers (no points) and 78 games with the Phantoms, registering 19-15-34 and 111 PIM. Guillaume tied for the team lead in plus/minus (plus-12) and was selected as the Phantoms Rookie-of-the-Year.

In 2000-01, Guillaume made his AHL debut with the Phantoms, playing 9 games in the Calder Cup playoffs. Prior to joining Philadelphia, Guillaume played three seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with Shawinigan, Cape Breton, Quebec and Rouyn-Noranda. In 196 games, he collected 62-91-153 and 121 PIM. His best season came during the 1999-2000 campaign when he registered 33-40-73 in 71 games with Cape Breton, Quebec and Rouyn-Noranda. In his final season in the QMJHL, Guillaume recorded 24-43-67 and 160 PIM with Rouyn-Noranda.

Guillaume was drafted by Philadelphia (6th choice, 227th overall) in the 2000 Entry Draft. Guillaume will report to the Springfield Falcons (AHL).

The 6-foot, 200-pound Amonte has played in 59 games with the Coyotes this season, recording 13-23-36 and 26 PIM. Amonte has scored 6 power play goals and 3 game-winning goals.

The Coyotes signed the 32-year-old native of Hingham, Massachusetts as a free agent on July 12, 2002. In 13 NHL seasons, Amonte has played in 920 NHL games, collecting 365-395-760 and 629 PIM.

Amonte was drafted by the New York Rangers (4th round, 68th overall) in the 1988 Entry Draft.
