With a three point performance on Sunday, April 6 versus St. Louis, Peter Forsberg claimed the Art Ross Trophy as the NHL's leading point scorer for the 2002-03 season.

Arthur Howie Ross, former manager-coach of the Boston Bruins, presented the trophy to the National Hockey League in 1947 as an annual award given to the player who leads the League in scoring points at the end of the regular season.

Vancouver's Marcus Naslund, a boyhood friend of Forsberg's, led the NHL scoring race going into the last day of the regular season, but Forsberg's three points performance (1g/2a) gave him seasons totals of 29 goals and 77 assists for 106 points and established him as the NHL's point leader for 2002-03.

106 points is the second highest point total of Forsberg's career, with his career-best 116 points (30g/86a) coming in Colorado's inaugural sason in the Mile High City in 1995-96.
