Kyle Beach split his past two seasons split between the Lethbridge Hurricanes (WHL), Rockford IceHogs (AHL), and Spokane Chiefs (WHL). He put up 52 goals and 34 assists in 68 games for the Chiefs, and so could be a valuable addition to the Blackhawks roster. However, he’s also known for his on-ice toughness. This summer at prospect camp, he openly stated that he understood eyes were upon him and that would make him a target for other players to get noticed – by fighting him. Unfortunately, one of those he fought – top prospect Mathis Olimb, from Norway – landed badly on the ice during a fight, and sustained shoulder injuries that would take him off the ice for at least 3-4 months. (His willingness to leap into fight mode during prospect camp led fans to promptly dub him with the nickname “Berzerker”.)
