Wembley bridge to be named after German star?
By European Football - March 14 2005
Ah those crazy Germans and their sense of humour, first they invade Poland now a large number of them want to name the new Wembley bridge the 'The Dietmar Hamann bridge'. It?s really all the fault of The London Development Agency, who in a moment of office madness,
thought it would be a good idea if people were allowed the chance to vote for the name of the bridge suggesting names like 1966 World Cup heroes such as Geoff Hurst and Bobby Charlton. And people did vote in their hundreds, unfortunately for the organisers it was the Germans.
Hamann scored the final goal at the old Wembley stadium which led to a hissy fit by Keegan, of well Keegan standards I suppose.
The competition has until March 15 and a list of names which are under consideration will be revealed, what price on The Dietmar Hamann bridge, well lets just say a couple of quid could keep Keegan in hankies for a fortnight.
I would like to suggest the ?why the hell do we need to waste all this money on a national stadium bridge.?
Wembley and the FA, the farce continues.
