Spieler-Stimmen nach Spiel 5
Das 5. Spiel der Viertelfinalserie zwischen dem ERCI und dem KEC endete mit einem 6:4-Sieg der Ingolstädter. In der Serie führen die Haie immernoch mit 3:2. Hier die Eindrücke nach der Partie vom Sonntag in der Saturn-Arena sowie ein Ausblick auf Spiel 6 am Dienstag von Dave McLlwain, Bill Lindsay, Aaron Gavey, Bryan Adams, Moritz Müller und Jason Marshall.
Dave McLlwain über die Auswirkungen des letzten Drittels aus Spiel 5 auf das kommende Spiel:
“It’s a series. It’s not one game. You want to take a little momentum out of a losing situation. We always thought we could come back. We were unfortunate to take that last penalty. We still had time. You never know, but I’d like to think we could have tied it up. But that game is over. We are ready for tuesday. We know we can beat these guys. We just have to be focused for 60 minutes, and not get sidetracked by any distractions that may happen throughout the game. We are still in the driver’s seat. I believe in our team. We are in a good situation. We know our fans are going to be high. It was a great game the other night. Now we built a little momentum. I know we lost the game, but they gotta be thinking a little bit different now. We came out strong today. Their goaltender played well, but we know we can beat him. It’s not like he’s unstoppable. We have to take that from this game. If we are capable of playing the way we can play, hopefully things take care of itself. The way we played today showed our character. We were not going to quit in 60 minutes.”
Bill Lindsay über die Aufholjagd im letzten Drittel:
“We talked in the dressing room about it. Whatever happens in the last period is going to carry into the next game. We just knew we had to continue to play well. We gave ourselves a shot. I think we’re happy about that, but it wasn’t our best game.”
Bill Lindsay auf die Frage, ob es einfacher zu spielen war, weil die Haie das Spiel nicht unbedingt gewinnen mussten:
“The fourth one is the hardest. We knew that. I think it gets harder, just trying to finish things out. It’s a tough game to win. And now we’re under some pretty good pressure going back home.”
Bill Lindsay über den Heimvorteil im 6. Spiel:
“You want to play in front of your own fans. You want to win it. You don’t want to come back to Ingolstadt for game 7. We want to get it done as quickly as possible.”
Aaron Gavey dazu, dass die Haie selbst bei vier Toren Rückstand nicht aufgegeben haben:
“Sometimes games like that happen, when things get a little out of hand. Our goal for the third period was to get ourselves back in the best we could. We were trying per se to get ourselves ready for the next game and put our best effort forward. We almost pulled it out. We were happy with that.”
Aaron Gavey zu seiner Rückkehr nach seiner Verletzungspause mit drei Playoff-Toren:
“I’m not getting a lot of ice time out there. To be fortunate enough to get three goals in the last five games, I feel very happy with that. Especially coming back from that back injury, that kept me sidelined for almost a month. I’m feeling pretty good for a thirty-three years-old.”
Aaron Gavey über das 6. Spiel am Dienstag:
“I think for the fans this series has been great. Now we are heading home. We battled back here in the third period. We’ve got phantastic character on this hockey club. And I think we showed that in the third period. So, we ar excited about the game on tuesday. Ingolstadt has played excellent hockey. I won’t discount that at all. We are just excited about the situation we’re in. It’s going to be home-ice on tuesday.”
Moritz Müller dazu, dass selbst bei zwei “Matchbällen” der erste erstrecht wichtig ist:
“Jedes Spiel ist ein must-win. Wenn wir nicht jedes Spiel so angehen, dann sind wir bald in einer Situation, dass - wenn wir nicht gewinnen - wir raus sind. Wir haben das schon als must-win angesehen. Ingolstadt ist halt heute top-vorbereitet in die Partie gegangen. Das hier sind ihre Fans, das ist ihr Stadion. Da dürfen wir nicht erwarten, dass sie schwächer als am Freitag spielen. Wir haben am Anfang viel gedrückt. Im zweiten Drittel haben wir kurz nachgelassen. Das haben die gnadenlos ausgenutzt. Aber nichts desto trotz haben wir das letzte Drittel noch gedreht. Das ist wichtig für unsere Köpfe, für unsere Einstellung im nächsten Spiel, dass wir wissen, das letzte Drittel haben wir gewonnen. An die Leistung können wir dann im nächsten Spiel direkt anknüpfen.”
Moritz Müller darüber, dass die Niederlage in Spiel 5 dem Selbstbewußtsein nicht geschadet hat:
“Einen Knick im Selbstbewußtsein sollte es in den Playoffs sowieso nicht geben. Wir führen 3:2 in der Serie. Da sollten wir an die positiven Sachen denken. Natürlich haben wir heute nicht unser bestes Spiel abgeliefert. Das steht außer Frage. Ich finde, wir sind 5 gegen 5 die bessere Mannschaft. Das müssen wir halt besser ausnutzen. Dann hätte die Serie heute schon zuende sein können. Aber das Spiel ist vorbei. Am Dienstag geht’s weiter. Dann haben wir den nächsten Matchball, den müssen wir dann nutzen.”
Moritz Müller auf die Frage, ob man im Fall Seidenberg im kommenden Spiel etwas erwarten darf:
“Ich weiß nicht, ob Ihr da was erwarten dürft. Ich erwarte eigentlich nur einen Sieg am Dienstag. Ob da sonst noch was kommt, weiß ich nicht.”
Bryan Adams darüber, wie es ihm nach seiner Gehirnerschütterung geht:
“I feel pretty good. I missed a week, so I missed the first three games. I’m getting better. I need more from myself out there. Playoffs is the part of hockey you want to be in. It’s fun out there, but it’s a long ways from being over. But it’s getting better every night. Anything that happens to your head is kind of scary.”
Bryan Adams über sein/das erste Tor in dieser Playoff-Serie:
“I got a goal, but it really means nothing now. We need to get some in the next couple of games. I will remember those ones more than I remember that one.”
Bryan Adams über seine Erwartungen an das 6. Spiel am Dienstag:
“I think we will play a little bit of a smarter game. We got ourselves into penalty-trouble in the second period and a little bit in the third. That’s not the kind of hockey we want to play. We do ourselves a better chance if we stay out of the box.”
Jason Marshall über Strafen für saubere Checks:
“I mean, it is frustrating, but the refs have a tough job out there on the ice. It’s pointless to argue if it was a penalty or not now. The game is over. You just gotta worry about the next game.”
Jason Marshall über die Aussicht auf ein Heimspiel am Dienstag:
“It will be nice! It’s always a pleasure to play in front of our crowd. We’ve got great fans. We are getting ready for that game. It’s always nice to play at home, but at the same time it doesn’t matter where you play, it matters how you play. Obviously we want to play as well as we can on home-ice. We will focus on that.”
