MIGHTY DUCKS SIGN FREE AGENT CHRIS ARMSTRONG TO A ONE-YEAR CONTRACT WITH A SECOND YEAR AT THE CLUB’S OPTION
ANAHEIM, Calif. - The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed free agent defenseman Chris Armstrong to a one-year contract with a second year at the club’s option. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Armstrong, 28 (6/26/75), appeared in 22 games with Augsburger of the Deutsche Eishockey League in Germany to finish the 2002-2003 season, earning 3-16=19 points and 32 penalty minutes. He also played in 21 regular season games with EV Zug of the Swiss National League, earning 0-7=7 points with 45 penalty minutes. The 6-0, 198-pound blueliner appeared in three NHL games with the Minnesota Wild in 2000-2001, going scoreless.
A native of Regina, Saskatchewan, Armstrong was originally drafted by the Florida Panthers in the third round (57th overall) of the 1993 Entry Draft.
Grandios.
